It's been an exciting week in the motoring world with a whole host of cars being revealed at this years Paris Motor Show. Last night Volkswagen got in on the act by debuting the next generation of their ever popular Golf GTI.
The 2013 Golf GTI is 10bhp more powerful than its present model thanks its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine giving it a total of 217bhp. This means the new GTI is quicker than before with VW saying both the top speed and 0-62mph have improved; from 149mph to 153mph and 6.9s to 6.6s respectively. A six-speed manual gearbox will come as standard but there is also an option of a six-speed DSG gearbox.
For those who arent satisfied with just that, a factory-fitted Performance Pack option will be available to increase power to 227bhp. A differential is included in the pack to reduce understeer and improve handling. VW also says it comes with bigger front brakes.
The new GTI will flaunt chrome twin exhaust tailpipes, red brake callipers and a honeycomb grille with a double red stripe. The interior is traditional GTI with red ambient lighting, tartan seats, golf ball gear knob as well as a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
VW only unveiled a concept version of the car in Paris but we can expect it to be mostly unchanged when it goes into production in 2013, which in my personal opinion is great as I think it looks fantastic.
