Seat confirm new SUV inspired by IBX concept car

Seat has confirmed that its first ever SUV will go into production by 2015 at the latest and will be inspired by the 2011 IBX concept car.

In the same class as the Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan, Seat also said a near production version of the new SUV could be debuted at a European motor show within the next two years.

The new car is a real signal of intent for which direction Seat think the manufacturer should be heading in, believing the SUV market a much better brand fit than the four-door saloon class. This seems to lead to doubts surrounding the future of Seats Exeo in the forthcoming years.

Seat really does have big plans for the new SUV and are expecting annuals sales of about 100,000 units. Along with the expanded Leon range, the Spanish manufacturer is looking to improve upon the 350,000 units sold in 2011.

This may well be only the start with Seat also considering a smaller SUV to rival the Volkswagen Taigun concept.
