Our Favourite Cars From The New York Auto Show

The New York Motor Show certainly made an impact this year, with many impressive launches and plenty of press generated from the event. The world’s car manufacturers competed to get everybody's attention on their cars. The show, which began on Wednesday was heaven on earth for petrol heads.

New York first became host to the auto show in 1900, it has been running for over 100 years. In the last decade the show has become particularly successful and this year was no exception. Here are some of our favourite cars from the New York Auto Show 2015.

McLaren 570S

There was a lot of speculation over the unveiling of the McLaren 570S at the New York Motor Show. McLaren initially released some official spy shots of the car to wet people’s appetite, but fans just couldn’t wait to see the car in the flesh. McLaren are trying to enter into the US market with this impressive sports car. It has 562 horsepower, a 3.8 litre V8 turbocharged engine and has a top speed of 204 mph. You can expect to get from 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds in this car. It is expected to go on sale in November 2015 and will be priced around $190,000.

Porsche Boxter Spyder

Another car that generated a lot of buzz was the stunning Porsche Boxter Spyder. This car was unveiled at the motor show and it’s supposed to be the most powerful and quickest Boxter to date. It has a 3.8 litre engine which boasts 375 horsepower and it has a top speed of 180 mph. This new model is lighter thanks to its use of aluminium enabling it to reach 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds. The new Boxter Spyder is expected to be delivered in about five month’s time and prices begin at around $82,000. However, to save on weight it does not have a radio or air conditioning. Are you happy to compromise these comforts in return for more speed?

Jaguar XF

Jaguar XF New York Auto Show

This classic British car had to be included on our list. The new Jaguar XF debuted a few updates at the New York Motor Show. It has been adapted so that it looks a little bit more like a coupe. It’s also a fair bit lighter at 265 pounds, has a new V6 supercharged engine which is capable of 340 horsepower. This car is not only luxurious, it’s also pretty quick, reaching 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds. The suspension has also been updated to create a smoother, more comfortable ride. The new model should be available in winter 2015 and it will set you back around $50,000.

Honda Civic

Honda Civic New York Auto Show

Although not quite as luxurious as some of the cars mentioned so far, the humble Honda Civic didn’t fail to get people’s attention at the show. It has had a US makeover, being designed by an American team has given it a slightly different look. It has had a big redesign, with LED tail and headlights and a short hood.

Mercedes-Benz AMG G65

Mercedes-Benz G65 New York Auto Show

Mercedes announced that the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG will be available in the US. The brand new model made its debut at the New York Auto Show. This car was originally made for military use but it has been very popular with the European market for a while now. The new version has a 6 litre twin-turbo V12 engine and 621 horsepower. It’s expected to be released in November 2015.
