New A Class is the most fuel efficient Mercedes ever

Mercedes has announced the A180 CDI BlueEfficiency, its most fuel efficient car to date. The new A Class model is considerably more efficient than the standard A180 CDI, with Mercedes claiming it can achieve 78mpg and CO2 emissions of just 92g/km.
A range of aerodynamic improvements are to thank for these impressive figures with the A180 CDI BlueEfficiency getting new aerodynamically shaped link coverings, lower suspension and partial covering of the radiator grille. The engine management system has also been changed and an updated transmission now gives longer gear ratios.
A petrol version, the A180 BlueEfficiency, was also announced by Mercedes. The petrol version will be similarly focused on efficiency and will boast 54mpg and 120g/km. The new A Class models will be released in Europe at the start of next month, however there are no plans for either to go on sale in the UK at this moment in time.
