Mercedes Ener-G-Force concept car for the LA motor show

The rugged Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force concept car, and possible future Range Rover rival, will be entered in next weeks LA motor show Design Challenge.

Influenced by the iconic and practical form of the Mercedes G-class, the design of futuristic Ener-G-Force is that of a Highway Patrol Vehicle for the year 2025. With a predicted range of up to 487 miles, the concept off-roaders planned driveline is made of four hydrogen-powered electric motors found on its wheels. Roof mounted water containers and a proposed Hydro-Tech Converter supply electricity that is stored in batteries within the broad sills, also acting as tread plates.

Despite not yet being confirmed, the Ener-G-Force is expected to be the precursor of a luxury SUV which will lead a family of three Land Rover rivals set to join the Mercedes line-up in upcoming years. The tough new appearance of the Ener-G-Force indicates what the line-up would look like, which is anticipated to go on and replace the long running G-class.
