Mercedes considering new 350bhp B-Class AMG

A range of new AMG models are being considered for production by Mercedes. This includes a 350bhp AMG version of the B-Class MPV, named the B45 AMG. This will join the Merc small car line-up alongside the new A45 AMG which is due to be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva motor show.  For latest Mercedes AMG models have a look at our deals page.

Although yet to be confirmed, there is a very realistic chance the B45 AMG will reach production if Mercedes believe there is a market for it. Much of the work that went into the A45 AMG would be transferable into the development of the new car. The two cars would share the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine to produce 350bhp and 450Nm of torque. The B45 AMG will manage 0-62mph in about 4.5 seconds and will only be available with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Mercedes is also considering a performance version of the GLA SUV whilst an AMG version of the CLA, due to be revealed at the 2013 Detroit motor show, is also set for production.

This shows Mercedes are clearly paying very close attention to the growing small SUV market which is exciting news for family car drivers.
