Guy Pimps Stranger's Cars With Cardboard
posted on Oct 19 2015 by Kiri Nowak
Who knew such a simple, yet genius act could attract so much attention? Pictures of cars pimped out with cardboard (we kid you not) are being shared all over the internet, because people can’t help but be amused by this creative little stunt.
A 24 year old ‘artist’ called Max Siedentopf came up with the genius idea to creep around in the dead of night and pimp out unsuspecting people’s cars. His creative car pimping project took place on the streets of Amsterdam. While car owners were sleeping soundly, he was transforming their cars into pimped out rides.
These car owners then awoke to realise their cars had been given a makeover, whether they liked it or not. Some of his targets included an Audi, Volkswagen, Honda and Nissan. Most of the cars are older models, which he clearly thought were in need of an upgrade (see pictures of the cars below).
We have all seen the TV shows such as ‘Pimp My Ride’ and this artist successfully manages to glorify and mock these shows all at the same time. He added spoilers and additional bodywork to these cars in order to give them a new, more interesting look. All he used to do this was some cardboard and tape. Images of his creations have been shared thousands of times.
He spoke to The Metro about his hilarious creations, saying We live in a time where individuality, self-expression and status are at an all-time peak. We want to personalise everything to be unique. However, for some reason the individualisation of one’s car has drastically decreased over the past few years. Resultant out of this realisation I tried to think of a way to make the most ordinary cars for just a few euros into their own supercar.’
He did not stick around to see the owner’s reactions for fear of causing too much trouble. However, some videos of people coming out to see their cars ‘enhanced’ with cardboard boxes would be very entertaining. We wish we could have seen the look on their faces.
People might try to copy this idea but Max Siedentopf did it first. He called his project ‘slapdash supercars’, which is a very fitting name. Would you be mad if someone did this to your car? Which is your favourite pimped out car? Check out some of his ridiculous creations below and feel free to share your comments with us.
