Formula One Stars: What They Drive in Their Spare Time

Formula One drivers certainly get their own pick of top of the range cars. Let's face it, they get the best there is to race for their jobs and in their spare time they can choose some of the best cars available. But what do they choose Here we look at our four favourite Formula One stars and look at the cars they drive in.

Jenson Button- the famous McLaren driver arrived at a cocktail party in a McLaren 12C Spider, and with a price tag of 195,500 youd certainly want to think about maintenance on this car. The top spec information for this car is impressive too, just take a look:

  • Engine: 3.8-litre petrol, twin-turbo V8
  • Power: 625hp
  • Torque: 442lb/ft
  • 0-62: 3.1 secs
  • Top speed: 204 mph
  • MPG Combined: 24.2 mpg
  • CO2: 279g/km

Sebastian Vettel-the 2011 F1 World Champion recently had a car named after him, the Infiniti FX50 Sebastian Vettel edition. He was also gifted with a Mercedes-Benz SL65 Black Edition after winning the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009:

Lewis Hamilton- Similar to Jenson Button, Hamilton also drives a McLaren. He was given the MP4-12C McLaren and asked his sponsors Mercedes for a GL 320 CDI diesel 4x4 which is now his second of that particular vehicle. This McLaren can set you back £168,000:

  • Power: 600mp
  • Torque: 443 lb/ft
  • Top Speed: 205mph
  • MPG Combined: 24.2 mpg
  • CO2: 279 g/km

Michael Schumacher-The German driver has a garage filled with powerful cars, including the Ferrari Enzo-based FXX. Prices start from £135,000:

  • Power- 408mp
  • Torque-357 lb/ft

There you have it. It seems that all the cars of choice are rather pricey but when you have the bank balance and driving skills needed, why wouldnt you choose one of these super cars?!
