Dunlop British Touring Car Championship 2013
posted on Oct 10 2013 by Jade Hensby
Six intensive months of racing have culminated into this moment; the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. With five men racing for the 2013 title- this weekend will be an exciting time at Brands Hatch!
Now into its third year of the next Generation Touring Car rules package, the new cars should be faster this season with greatly increased turbo outputs, which will only add to the action.
The five men who we will see racing are:
Andrew Jordan 378 points in a Honda Civic
Matt Neal 344 points in a Honda Civic
Gordon Shedden 343 points in a Honda Civic
Colin Turkington 330 points in a BMW 125i M Sport
Jason Plato 329 points in a MG6 GT
As it stands Jason Plato leads the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after taking two wins from the opening three races of the season on The Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Plato said I am delighted with the first two wins. Last year was a sign of what might have come for us at MG- but weve changed the balance considerably now so its much easier to drive.
This weekend offers 67 points to the winner. This will alter the table whoever wins. Three races will close the season of the Grand prix circuit, and includes a reverse-grid extravagance to close the end of the racing weekend.
The expensively prepared cars may start the weekend in showroom condition, but you can be sure they wont stay like this for long- with some of the closest racing in any championship contact becoming inevitable.
What makes this a great event for spectators is the access to the drivers and the team. Providing free pit walks at every round, now that does sound fun!
