138bhp version of Vauxhall Adam ready for 2013 release
posted on Nov 15 2012 by Sam Jones
Vauxhall has confirmed late 2013 will see the release of 138bhp and small capacity direct injection turbo engine versions of its Adam hatchback. A hot VXR model is possibly in the pipeline also.
The small capacity direct injection turbo engine will be akin the 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost. The similarly confirmed 138bhp Adam city car will use a turbocharged version of the 1.4-litre engine that gives the current models 98bhp. This extra 40bhp, as well as suspension adjustments and a new bodykit, means the hot version of the Adam will reach 62mph in less than 10 seconds.
The yet to be confirmed VXR Adam will feature later on in Vauxhalls plans and is expected to use the Corsa VXR 1.6-litre 189bhp turbo engine in an attempt to rival the Mini Cooper S.
