Before you choose to lease a new Mercedes-Benz, here is bit of history about the brand, its cars and some of the technology it uses. After the information, there will be some links to the Mercedes car leasing deals currently available.
In January of 1886, the world's first automobile was unveiled by Karl Benz. His creation was athree-wheeled vehicle and it adopted the name of, "the Benz Patent Motor Car". A few months later, Gottlieb Daimler and his chief engineer Wilhelm Maybach rolled out a four-wheeled vehicle powered by his Daimler engine. In 1901, shortly after Daimler's death, a car built by Maybach and commissioned by Emil Jellinek, one of Daimler's primary distributors, was named after Jellinek's daughter, Mercedes. That moment signified the arrival of the first Mercedes.
Twenty five years later, in 1926, the companies founded by Daimler and Benz merged to form Daimler-Benz AG, and the Mercedes-Benz brand was born. The company's logo was a three-pointed star wreathed in a laurel; the star was dreamed up by Daimler years earlier, and its three points signified the fact that his engines were for use in vehicles that traveled land, air and sea.
One of the car maker's earliest vehicles, the 1931 Mercedes-Benz 170, distinguished itself as the world's first production car to offer a technology that was quite impressive for the period: four-wheel independent suspension. The 1930s and 1940s saw Mercedes become the brand of choice for car buyers seeking a luxury car, thanks to cars like the 380 and 540K.
The 1950s witnessed the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing," a sports car that has been described as being the world's first supercar. With its dramatic styling and race-bred technology. The decade also saw Daimler-Benz making strides in the area of safety technology. The company's Mercedes-Benz 220s were the first cars to incorporate its patented "crumple zone" body design, created to absorb impact in the event of a crash.
By 1963, the company had established its position as producer of luxury cars with the launch of the Mercedes-Benz 600. The lavish saloon featured an air suspension system, which was state of the art technology at the time, and a V8 engine that boasted 300 horsepower. The 1960s also saw Mercedes-Benz introduce the 300 SEL 6.3. This full-size saloon went from 0 to 60 in under seven seconds, and was probably the quickest luxury car available in that era.
The 1970s welcomed Mercedes-Benz's S-Class line of vehicles, which feature powerful smooth engines and many luxury extras. The decade also saw Mercedes-Benz advancing safety technology, being the first car manufacturer to offer antilock brakes.
These safety advancements continued in the 1980s. Mercedes were the first to offer airbags and traction control. They introduced multilink rear suspension. This new suspension technique radically changed the level of comfort experienced by Mercedes-Benz drivers. The technology first appeared on the compact Mercedes-Benz 190 E, and it remains a vital component of the company's chassis engineering to this day.
And that leads nicely onto the next section: Mercedes-Benz Today.
The Brand new Mercedes Car have a level of quality you'd expect, considering Mercedes spend a head-spinning £10million a day on research and development.
Regardless of whether you choose an A Class or an S Class Mercedes Benz, here are some of the marks of quality that go into their design and build.
A-Pillar. The unique a-pillar construction helps improve visibility by redirecting as much rain water away from your windows.
All Mercedes Leather is put through a 'blind fold test' to ensure it feels like quality.
Charcoal filters air conditioning is available on every model to remove pollen and other particles, making the air inside your mercedes to be that little bit purer.
Mercedes employ a team of 'perfume ladies' to make sure your Mercedes smells right, under all sorts of conditions.
Any wooden interior is mounted to a shock absorbing aluminium backing board, which absorbs the shock during an accident. This makes sure your car's airbag will deploy as and when it should properly, without fear of a splinter bursting it.
The car seats in the new Mercedes have built in Intelligence to automatically adjust to fit your perfect driving position. There are 3 memory slots for the settings, so if you share the car with your partner, each driver can have their favoured seat position stored.
Once your inside your car, specially designed seals and sound-deadening materials give you a peacefully quiet ride.
Mercedes have their own Ostrich farm in South Africa which produces the feathers used to give the car's exterior an exceptionally smooth feel.
Even the wheel changing kit has that extra thought invested. The kit comes with a pair of gloves, so you don't get your hands dirty.
And with water-based paints and up to 80% of the car being recyclable, the new Mercedes are designed to be environmentally friendly.
Now you know a bit about the effort that goes into making a Mercedes-Benz, here's the current models on the road right now:
The new generation A-Class features an array of subtle design touches that lift the car to another level of dynamism and style.
The tail light cluster has been redesigned and the headlamps reshaped, giving the car a broader appearance. Mercedes created a new-look front apron with a more angular, sporty-looking air intake, and reworked the radiator grille. In fact, each model line now has its own distinctive grille louvres.
In addition, Mercedes made the bonnet slightly shorter and steeper. In combination with the large, sloping windscreen, this adds drama to the car's signature sweeping shoulder line. Cheap A class lease deals

The C-Class SE's nose bears the traditional hallmarks of a Mercedes-Benz: a chromed grille with laurel wreath badge and a three-pointed star that sits proudly on the bonnet. There's also chrome around the top edge of the side windows. Three black louvres, meanwhile, help to emphasise the front air intakes, and the front fog lamp surrounds, too, are in black.
The theme continues at the rear, where the wide boot lid handle is finished in Matt Black. Equally attractive are the alloy wheels fitted as standard on all models.
The cabin has a similarly refined style. Its cross-stitched seats come with Brighton cloth trim - in either Black, Reef Grey, Black/Beige or Black/Red - or optional Artico man-made leather substitute. There's also fine chrome detailing and subtle High-Gloss Black trim, with Burr Walnut wood trim available as an option.

With its large dimensions, long wheelbase and generous ground clearance, the new generation GL-Class cuts an imposing figure. Wherever you look, angled surfaces sit alongside gentle curves and lines, the tension between them creating a dramatic visual language.
Head-on, the GL-Class exudes energy and power with the radiator grille's bold trapezoid design mirrored by the air intake and stainless steel underguard. Eye-catching details include new fog lamps and daytime driving lamps in chrome-look surrounds - or distinctive LED daytime running lights if the Sports Styling Package is specified.
Two understated powerdomes adorn the bonnet and a subtle shoulder line sweeps back to the powerful, muscular rear. There you'll find LED tail lights and indicators, plus tailpipes partially integrated into the underguard.
For the new generation GL-Class, new metallic paint finishes include Tenorite Grey and Palladium Silver. New 19" alloy wheels come as standard, with new 20" alloys and new 21" AMG alloys available as options.
Available in two distinct model lines - SE and Sport - the M-Class looks better than ever.
Design touches include a reworked crenellated grille with three chrome trimmed louvres and a prominent central star. Clear lens projection-beam headlamps, a striking front bumper with integrated fog lamps, and a simulated underguard complete the bold front-end of the M-Class.
Moving around the car, you'll notice flared front wheel arches and a purposeful feature line sweeping towards the rear. Exterior door mirrors with a large reflective surface are automatically dimming as well as electrically folding. Roof rails are finished in black on the SE and in aluminium on the Sport.
At the rear, dark-tinted tail lights and twin exhaust with oval tailpipes feature as standard on the V6 SE, with rectangular tailpipes in chrome fitted as standard on the V8 SE and all Sport models.
From the expressive front section, through the elegant, sweeping shoulder lines, to the powerful rear, the S-Class exudes charisma and confidence. With its long, lean profile and impressive proportions, this is a car with an imposing presence on the road.
Distinctive styling touches include the shield-shaped radiator grille and restyled front bumper with LED daytime running lights. To the side, new-look exterior mirrors have integrated LED indicators.
At the rear, where the car's muscular haunches and arching roofline converge, you'll find bold LED tail lights and a rear bumper with integrated tailpipes. An extensive choice of light alloy wheels completes the sense of exclusivity and prestige.
Admire the new SL-Class from any angle and its motorsport heritage is clear. The low, muscular stance. Powerdomes on the bonnet. Organic, gill-like trim panels on the front wings. The rear bumper with integral, trapezoid tailpipes. This is dynamic design at its very best.
Every detail suggests speed, power and agility - from the widened radiator grille with single louvre to the reshaped headlights and new exterior mirrors with arrow-shaped LED indicators.
For added impact, the V12 models feature trim elements in a brilliant Matt Silver finish. And the optional Sports package includes dark-tinted headlamps - for that little bit of extra attitude.
With its F1-inspired lines and broad, muscular stance, the original SLK-Class took roadster design to a new level of beauty and dynamism. In this latest incarnation, Mercedes have incorporated a number of small but significant changes to lift it even higher.
For example, there are subtle adjustments to the car's nose and front bumper, plus new arrow-shaped indicator lamps integrated into the side mirrors. Striking new alloy wheels have been fitted and the racing-style tailpipes are now a distinctive trapezium shape. And Mercedes have added stylish dark-tinted tail lights and chrome-rimmed fog lamps.
The vario-roof means the SLK-Class moves effortlessly from coupe to roadster and back again.
Thanks to the intelligently designed folding mechanism, when the roof is lowered the SLK is still able to boast 185 litres of luggage space. With the roof up, this increases to an impressive 277 litres.
Opening and closing the roof is effortless with the optional infra-red remote control integrated into the key.
That's the mainstay of the Mercedes Car line up. All of which are available on car leasing deals with us. So now take a look at some of the technology Mercedes-Benz uses to keep its new cars at the forefront of the car market.
BlueEFFICIENCY is a package of fuel saving technologies. Innovative changes have been made throughout the design and engineering of our cars; from the engine to the wheels, everything is optimised for lower emissions and reduced fuel consumption. Advancements include improved aerodynamics, weight reduction, lower-displacement engines and ECO start/stop to help save energy.
Besides delivering cleaner, more efficient motoring, BlueEFFICIENCY also reduces the cost of running a car. All without compromising performance, or the driver's complete satisfaction.
Mercedes-Benz have already introduced economical BlueEFFICIENCY versions of some of our most popular models, with more being added at every opportunity. As you might expect, Mercedes are dedicated to making BlueEFFICIENCY technology available throughout the range.
Night View Assist
Because obstacles can only be seen at the last moment when you are driving on an unlit road in the dark, Mercedes-Benz has developed Night View A ssist. Picked up by an infrared camera, a clear image of the road ahead is shown on the instrument cluster display.
Ideally positioned in your field of vision (where the speedometer display appears when Night View Assist is not in use), the image from the infrared camera allows you to experience night driving in a new light. You can see the road ahead of you as though you had main-beam headlamps on - but without dazzling oncoming traffic. The realistic greyscale image helps you to distinguish "warm" objects, such as people and animals, as well as "cold" obstacles, such as stones or lost load items, at an early stage and thus allows you to respond accordingly. Night View Assist therefore makes a major contribution to enhancing your safety when driving at night.
Night View Assist is available for the S-Class and CL-Class.
Continually braking and accelerating in stop-and-go traffic, or when driving bumper-to-bumper on a motorway, is a tiring chore - one which the Distronic Plus proximity control system can take care of for you. This highly advanced cruise control system is not only able to maintain a set distance to the vehicle ahead at speeds up to 200 km/h, but can also cope with stop-and-go driving.
If the flow of vehicles slows down, the system brakes your vehicle gently and accelerates it again when the opportunity arises. Should more forceful braking be called for, Distronic Plus gives audible and visual warnings. If you then press the brake pedal, the BAS Plus Brake Assist System generates the optimum brake pressure and stops your vehicle safely.
Whether you are travelling at high or low speed, Distronic Plus keeps an eye on the distance to the vehicle ahead. Distronic Plus is available for the S-Class and CL-Class.
Intelligent Light System
In the fog, on dark country roads, at night on the motorway or when cornering - optimum visibility is always essential, and it could sometimes seem like every type of conditions requires its own special headlamps. That's where the Intelligent Light System comes in. The adaptive headlamp system automatically adjusts itself to the requirements of the current driving situation and thus ensures optimum illumination. The system comprises a motorway mode, a country road mode, cornering light and Active Light functions as well as enhanced fog lamps.
The enhanced fog lamp function provides good visibility in murky weather and reduces backglare at the same time. The Active Light function and the integrated cornering light function follow the movements of the steering wheel and can improve illumination by up to 90 percent when turning into side roads or taking tight corners. Country road mode improves visibility in extra-urban areas by a good 10 metres while motorway mode is activated at higher speeds and increases visibility by a massive 50 metres.
But regardless of which particular function of the Intelligent Light System happens to be in use at a given moment - you do not have to do anything. You will probably simply notice that you can see better.
With Linguatronic everything is tuned in to one command: yours. The system allows you to use speech recognition to control numerous functions on board with spoken commands. So your hands stay on the wheel and you can stay focused on traffic.
The new enhanced Linguatronic generation is easier to operate and now has expanded features. For example, the contacts stored in your phone can be recognised without speech training. Operating the radio channels and navigation system is also now simpler, and control of the navigation system has also been optimised. Even whole-word place and street names can be activated using innovative recognition technology.
With an expanded synonym database and a new cough filter, the new Linguatronic generation works even more reliably - just as you would expect in a Mercedes-Benz.
The feeling of being at one with your vehicle begins with a good seat. The Mercedes-Benz multi-contour seats can be adjusted to your requirements so comprehensively and flexibly that even the longest journeys become something to be relished. You can choose between three different degrees of firmness, for example, and adjust the form of the seat to provide optimum support by means of eleven integrated air cushions.
An even higher degree of comfort is provided by the dynamic variant of the multi-contour seat: as well as meeting the highest orthopaedic standards, it offers a comfortable back massage function which is integrated in the backrest.
The dynamic multi-contour seat is also notable for the active role it plays in keeping you in your place: an electro-pneumatic system adjusts the seat automatically to the current driving situation. As the car tilts when taking a left-hand curve, for example, the right-hand side of the backrest is reinforced to provide additional support.
It's all thanks to nano-technology: Countless microscopically small ceramic particles form an invisible protective shield for your car. The results are a threefold increase in scratch resistance, a more lustrous finish, and even better long-term resale values due to the durable paintwork.
Mercedes-Benz has repeatedly put the effectiveness of the new paint finish to the test - through standardised trials which simulate countless car-wash cycles, for example. The result: the dulling effect on the nano-particle clearcoat is less than half of that measured on a conventional clearcoat finish. Which just goes to show that, even though the ceramic particles are only a billionth of a metre long, they make a very big difference.
7G-Tronic is the world's first 7-speed automatic transmission. The increased number of possible ratios brings many benefits: a faster shifting response, improved acceleration, quieter running, greater driving pleasure. But it also offers less of something - fuel consumption.
The seven forward gears reduce the steps between the individual ratios significantly and thus enable fast, fuel-saving gear shifting. The reduced shift times also permit improved acceleration and faster intermediate sprints. It is only when you are really in a hurry that "less" is more - during full-throttle acceleration, the transmission automatically jumps individual ratios to attain the final speed as quickly as possible.
