GMC General Manager Gary Shapland is in the swim of things at Swimathon 2008 in aid of MARIE CURIE CANCER CARE
Duncan Goodhew, Olympic Gold medallist and president of Swimathon, comments: ‘Swimming is a great overall workout. It uses every muscle group in the body whilst burning more calories than other activities, such as running, and is one of the government's targeted sports to reduce obesity. Swimathon is not only a great form of exercise for all, but a great team activity for friends, families and colleagues.' Gary says: ‘I'm thrilled to have participated in Swimathon 2008 and that the money I raised will be used to help Marie Curie Cancer Care patients in my local area. It's great to know my efforts will be helping ease the lives of those with terminal illness in my local community. I have lived and worked in the area for many years and helped raise money for The Chestnut Tree house appeal, Worthing Town Centre Initiative and many others. My fellow colleagues and I at GMC Car Leasing aim to participate in many fundraising events throughout this year and even considering the 3 Peaks Challenge† Look out for our next fund raising challenge and get involved bysponsoring us to help local and national charities. Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK's largest charities, employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals.
