Audi A4 Car Leasing

One of the most leased cars in the UK, is the Audi A4. Both business contract hire and personal contract hire customers flock to lease a new Audi A4 every year.

To learn more about the Audi A4 and discover why it is such as success model in the leasing industry, here's a fact file for your reference.

The A4 is a compact executive car produced by Audi since late 1994. The initial generation A4 succeeded the four previous generations of the Audi 80. And just like its Audi 80 predecessor, the Audi A4 automobile layout consists of a longitudinally orientated engine at the front, with transaxle-type transmissions mounted immediately to the rear of the engine, again, orientated longitudinally. Drive output is transmitted to either the front wheels, or on some models, utilising Audi's 'trademark' quattro permanent four-wheel drive system via a Torsen centre differential.

Of the main body styles, it is, and always has been, available as a saloon. The Audi A4 is also available as an "Avant", which is Audi's name for an estate.

The new Audi A4 uses technology to make the car more enjoyable and easier to drive. Here are some of the features packed into the new Audi A4s.

The A4 cabin puts many premium luxury cars to shame with its level of refinement and superb finish. And, as you would expect from Audi, the instrumentation is the embodiment of clarity. Thanks to the cockpit's unique ergonomics, your hand falls naturally to the control you need. It all helps to create an instinctive, intuitive and satisfying driving experience.

The Driver's Information System
The driver information system (DIS) is a large, clear digital display in the centre of the instrument panel. It provides a range of information -- from the outside temperature to the estimated range possible with the current amount of fuel.

Drive in comfort
Adjustments on the driver's seat and steering wheel help you find your perfect driving position. The switches for adjusting the seats are conveniently located on the side on the seat. They provide intuitive adjustment for seat height, recline and forwards and backwards movement.

Smart Keys
The A4 saloon comes with a choice of two keys: the intelligent key (standard) or the advanced key (optional). Both of them are smart, convenient and useful.

The intelligent key

  • It has no protruding steel teeth, so pockets and bags don't get damaged
  • It remembers customised driver settings for up to four users -- such as seat and mirror positions
  • It memorises service information and fault diagnostics speeding up the process when it's time for a service

The advanced key
The optional advanced key allows you to keep the key in your pocket all the time. The doors unlock automatically when you approach the car and you can start the engine just by pressing a start/stop button in the centre console.

Electrically Opening Boot Lid
The challenge of opening the boot while laden down with shopping, for example, is thankfully a thing of the past. You simply unlock and open the boot with a button on your remote car key. When you close the boot it locks again automatically.

The luggage compartment has a generous 480-litre capacity. The flat, wide, low floor makes for easy loading too. With the rear seats folded, luggage capacity increases to 962 litres.

Coming / Leaving Home Function

Leaving your car
When leaving the car in the dark, the front fog lights, taillights and number plate light remain on and only turn off after a specified time, which can be easily set up using the DIS (Drivers Information System) or if fitted, the Multi Media Interface. This allows you to use the car's lights to guide you to the front door of your house, for example.

Returning to your car
Similarly, when you unlock the doors remotely, the car's interior and exterior lights switch on, so you can find your way to your car in the dark.

Coming home / leaving home light technology is standard on all Audi A4 SE's and above.

3 Zone Climate Control
3 zone climate control, standard on SE and S line models, has separate air and temperature controls for the driver, front passenger and for the rear of the cabin. This ensures maximum comfort for everyone travelling.

The cleanest possible air
As standard, your A4 is fitted with an active carbon filter. This makes sure that the air inside the cabin of your Audi is as clean and pollutant-free as possible.

Climate Controlled Comfort Seats
The optional climate-controlled comfort seats are upholstered in perforated Milano leather and have small fans with adjustable settings to control the temperature of the seat back and base cushion.

The stylish seats provide more support for your shoulders and the lumbar support can be electronically adjusted in four directions. A memory function for both front seats is also provided so your preferred settings are always stored.

The seats are available in four colours: black, light grey, cardamom beige and mustang brown.

Audi Drive Select
Not all driving situations are the same. The optional Audi drive select changes handling and response at the touch of a button to suit how you want to drive. There are four modes: comfort, dynamic, auto and individual.

For long-distances, comfort adjusts your set-up to create a more relaxing ride. Dynamic changes the settings for a sportier driving experience, adjusting steering and throttle response. The auto mode adapts the system depending on the current driving situation while individual, which is available in conjunction with a Satellite Navigation system, allows you to configure the dynamics of the car to your own preferences depending on what special equipment is fitted.

Parking Systems

Audible tones to guide you
When you reverse, the Audi Acoustic Parking System is activated. It sounds an intermittent tone if there are obstacles behind the car. The nearer you get, the more frequent the tones. The sound becomes continuous at just 30cm from the obstacle.

More precise parking
The Audi Parking System Plus uses sensors discreetly located in the front and rear bumpers. When obstacles are detected you are alerted by acoustic signals and a graphic display in the cockpit.

A better view
With Audi Parking System advanced a small camera in the boot lid has a wide angled lens that provides a 130 degree view to the rear, displayed on the Multi Media Interface screen. The image is overlaid with coloured graphics and shows the path the vehicle will take based on the position of the steering wheel. With blind spots minimised, the driver is able to park effortlessly in even the tightest of parking spots.

Audi Lane Assist
The optional Audi lane assist helps prevent you from drifting out of your chosen lane. A tiny image recognition camera watches the lane markings on either side. If you veer too far right or left, the system knows you're in danger and vibrates the steering wheel to alert you. If you change lanes using your indicators, the system knows that's safe and temporarily switches itself off.

Audi Side Assist
The optional Audi side assist offers safe lane-changing even if there's another vehicle in your blind spot. At speeds over 40mph, it monitors the area to the rear and sides of the car and detects whether the lane is occupied by another vehicle. If it is, LEDs on the corresponding door mirror warn you before you begin to pull out.

HDD Navigation
With the optional hard drive based (HDD) navigation system, being lost becomes a thing of the past. Simply enter a destination using the Multi Media Interface (MMI) in the centre console, or just say where you want to go, using the advanced voice recognition system.

The HDD navigation system has a 40GB hard drive meaning that maps load incredibly fast and there's an abundance of detail (including 3D buildings in cities and photo realistic 3D landmarks) when you zoom in. You can also specify modifications to the route such as avoiding or using motorways, toll roads and ferries. And you can recall favourite and recent destinations which are stored in your address book.

The system can also adjust the route you're taking dynamically based on the latest traffic situation. It receives RDS-TMC (Traffic Message Channel) automatically so it knows about hold-ups before you do and, if dynamic navigation is active, the system automatically recalculates the route.

If you choose the HDD-based Satellite Navigation system, you can also create your own personal jukebox. With 10GB of its hard drive set aside for music, you download via CDs, USB sticks or SD memory cards up to 4,000 music tracks.

Mobile Phone Preparation
This option provides a Bluetooth connection for your mobile phone. This means that your phone can be operated using the multifunction steering wheel in conjunction with the driver information system.

Five-star Euro NCAP rating
After testing the new Audi A4 for passive crash safety, the Euro NCAP consortium awarded the vehicle five stars, the highest rating possible. The results achieved by the new Audi A4, for adult protection in frontal and side crashes as well as child and pedestrian protection, make it one of the safest vehicles in its class.

Airbags
Adaptive technology improves on the original airbag concept significantly. In the event of a collision, the level of impact and the position of the seat are considered and the deployment force of the airbag is adjusted accordingly. Front and side airbags for both the driver and front passenger are available as standard across all A4 models.

Audi Backguard head restraints
The Audi Backguard system is designed into the body of the seat and counteracts the dangers of whiplash injuries to the neck and head in the event of a rear-end collision.

Quattro
Audi's optional quattro technology isn't all about high-performance handling. For every-day driving, especially with non-ideal road conditions, quattro will help you reach your destination quickly and safely.

It works by varying the amount of drive that is sent to each of the four wheels, reacting in milliseconds, constantly feeling for any loss of grip. So, on slippery surfaces, if one or more wheels are at risk of spinning, more drive is directed to wheels that have better road-surface contact. You don't notice this happening: all you feel is more assured cornering, whatever the weather.

ESP
Audi's electronic stability program (ESP) is a combination of advanced technologies that helps keep the car under control in more extreme situations such as when you need to avoid an unexpected obstacle in the road. ESP is especially helpful in adverse weather conditions.

When you need to turn quickly and sharply, ESP identifies your intended direction and responds by applying the brakes to individual wheels.

Brake disc wiping
In the wet, ESP also dries the brake discs by intermittently applying the brake pads lightly. You and your passengers won't notice but, compared with conventional braking systems, your stopping distances on wet roads will be considerably shortened.

ISOFIX Anchor Points
With ISOFIX, compatible child safety seats can be fitted swiftly and securely. On each outer rear seat and the front passenger seat, ISOFIX mounting points are provided. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated for when a child seat is present. ISOFIX is standard across the model range.

Adaptive Lights
Optional adaptive lights swivel in the headlamp cluster. When turning, they follow the steering direction and cast a wider angle of illumination so you can see round the bend more clearly at night.

ASR
Anti-slip regulation - or traction control - reduces power to any wheel that is in danger of spinning. Full power is returned when traction is re-established.

EBD
Electronic brake-force distribution works in conjunction with ABS to ensure an even maximum braking force between the front and rear wheels.

EDL
The electronic differential lock allows a smooth getaway on surfaces with mixed levels of grip.

ESP
Audi's electronic stability programme uses the four technologies above. It identifies the intended direction and applies braking to individual wheels to help keep the car stable.

Start-Stop
Audi's start-stop technology cuts the engine when the car is standing still and in neutral. The engine immediately starts again as soon as you depress the clutch. The whole process is barely noticeable but it can be disabled at the touch of a button if required.

Gearshift indicator - available on manual cars
Selecting the right gear at the right time is key to reducing fuel consumption. The Driver's Information System has a gearshift indicator that tells you when to change gear and which gear to change to. By following the system's recommendations, you'll drive more efficiently.

Comfort features cost fuel
Comfort features such as air conditioning and seat heating increase fuel consumption. The efficiency program helps you monitor this by telling you which systems in the car require additional energy and how high their share of fuel consumption is.

Recuperation
When you're coasting or braking, the car's alternator generates electricity. Recuperation allows it to be stored so when you're accelerating or driving at a constant speed, the stored electricity is used to drive the alternator. Recuperation reduces fuel consumption by up to 3% and therefore lowers CO2 emissions.

S-Tronic Gearbox
The revolutionary S tronic transmission combines the responsiveness of a manual gearbox with the convenience of an automatic. Thanks to innovative dual-clutch technology, S tronic can make a gear change in just 0.2 of a second, with no interruption to the power flow, allowing you to benefit as fully as possible from the engine's output at all times, resulting in better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

TFSI
TFSI technology unlocks superior power, more dynamic performance and better economy from petrol engines. In fact, compared with many naturally aspirated V6 engines with more cylinders, TFSI delivers the same sporty performance but using 10 to 15% less fuel.

FSI
FSI and turbocharging technology work so well together because the evaporation of fuel in the combustion chamber cools the intake air giving higher compression, improved engine efficiency and, in turn, lower CO2 emissions.

Audi valvelift system
Featured in the 3.2 litre V6 FSI and 2.0 litre TFSI engines, this innovation varies the valve lift between two levels. This provides the car with better low-end torque and a more effective dynamic torque build up. The effect is a significant increase in engine efficiency, so you can get greater power and improved response from less fuel.

TDI
A dedication to pioneering technology has brought Audi peerless expertise in turbocharged diesel engines. All Audi TDI engines are equipped with common rail and piezo injectors to achieve smooth, efficient and quiet combustion. Diesel fuel related emissions are also significantly reduced thanks to a diesel particulate filter, fitted as standard, which filters out almost all soot particles contained in the exhaust gas.

The turbocharger has variable turbine vane geometry to help produce higher torque and greater power for the cubic capacity of the engine. And sophisticated air-flow control also contributes to the engine's capabilities while simultaneously reducing nitrogen oxide emissions.
